Dear Lorene:

The parents of your Daniel South who married Susannah McCoy are still unknown. I know for sure that the William South (Rev War soldier)who married Hannah Malott in Washington Co, MD is a brother. History of Clermont Co, OH says Wm and Daniel were brothers 'and Natives of MD'. Not so!! The Natives of MD part. Wm served in the Rev War from NJ and widow was paid by Moore Furman of NJ. Another brother was James who stated in Hannah's request for pension he was William's brother and served under him the the Rev War. Never found any record of him and most probably died between 1840 and 1850, unmarried and living in someone's household a man over 50.

There was a Benjamin South of Washington Co, MD I think to have been a brother. Widow was Elizabeth. Records are scant. Also I think (need proof on all of this) that Zedekiah South who married Mary McCabe and Lippinton South who married Edith McCabe were also brothers. (Two brothers married two sisters)? They went up into New York State.

Also can't tie Benjamin South who married Kzia (Keziah) and 2nd Mrs. Amy Eldrige, to any parents.

So many errors have been printer and reprinted that some people are taking them for gospel. Ain't so! When you ask for proof you never hear from them again.

Don South
