David,
Amanda South was listed in the 1860 census at the age of 43 and husband 35. I think the ages were mixed up. I have found in the Military records in 1862 that John G. Richards was 43. So Amanda would have been born later then 1805. She would have been born by early 1830's.

Her husband was born by 1819/20. The family is listed with her sister in Alabama Census 1860 Marion co., Alabama

The all the children are list in 1870 Census with other people after the mother death. they all lived in Washington co., IL.
