Deceased Name: Patricia S. South
SPRINGFIELD - Patricia "Pat" Sue South, 71, of Springfield died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born May 13, 1935, in Bloomington, the daughter of Paul and Violette Crutcher Beardsley. She married Marvin L. South in 1960.

Mrs. South was an elementary and junior high school librarian for Springfield School District 186 and formerly taught in Springfield and Bloomington. She was a member of First Church of God, Springfield Education Association and Lincoln Land Retired Teachers Association and was a volunteer usher at the University of Illinois at Springfield. She was a discussion group leader for Bible Study Fellowship, a choir director at her church for more than 30 years and a former Sunday school teacher.

Survivors: husband, Marvin; daughter, Becky (husband, Mike) Weise of Bloomington; son, Jeff (wife, Clara) South of Chatham; six grandchildren; sister, Janet (husband, David) Johnson of Pekin; brother, Peter Beardsley of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services: 12:30 p.m. Thursday, First Church of God, the Rev. Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
