William Homer South AKA Carl Adamson

I thought someone would be interested that Carl Adamson who died November 1, 1919 and was present at the murder of Pat Garrett, was originally known as William Homer South. I think he came from Missouri to New Mexico. I would like to know why he left and I wonder what he did that required an alias.
