Carolyn,

You first posted your question on Mary Alice South in Sept. 2006 and I responded five weeks later. In the meantime David South had given you some better information than what I thought I had. In parsing my South files today for something wholly unrelated I found much more of what you need. I knew that "Mary Alice" name sounded familiar from someplace! The information David provided is echoed by what I found today. Further, Mary Alice, her parents and her family are all enumerated in the 1860 census for Rock Island County, Ill. Her parents left Illinois by 1875 and were farming in Iowa, where her mother, Sarah, died 28 March 1884 and her father, Mark, on 6 October 1898.

There is more. If you are still interested in this line please contact me directly at riverman_vt@yahoo.com and I will put you in touch with the person who sent this to me.

Don Valentine
