Dave:
Thanks for the information.Do you know anyting else about Charlotte Wogan. This name is new to me and I did not know that John South was married before he married Martha Dille. John cound not be the son of Gabriel. Gabriel and Catharine were married Aug. 1, 1820. John was born Feb. 7, 1815. Also The census date in 1820 does not show any childern and the 1830 data shows only one boy and 2 girls. The 1840 data shows one boy and one girl. I think they only had 3 chrildren
There was a William South in the 1820 census, same location, 3 boys under 10 and one 10-16. Also 2 girls under 10. There was one more girl added in the 1830 census.
I think William and Gaberiel were related but can not find out how.
Census date show a Daniel South in Bedford Co. in 1790 with a wife and one boy under 16 (I think this was William). Then in 1800 It just shows a Mary South with one Boy 16-26 (again Williiam ??).
In 1810 there is a Mrs. South with 3 boys 10-16, one 16-26 ( Gabriel ???), one Male 26-45 (William????)and one female under 10. Where did the extra children come from?
I have seen the census data where Catherine in 1850 was staying with her daugher and son-in-law. But I have also seen where whe was staying in 1850 with her son, Franklin 25 and his wife Mary A, 20 and three chrildren Lucy A 3, Margret 2, and Elizabeth 3 month.
Any additional information would be welcomed.
Thanks again,
Joe
