Dear John M. South,

I am so glad to know you are still working on the SOUTHS. I should be asking you for information because you are the South expert. In the states I just concentrated on my line once I couldn't find an earlier connection. I found possibly dozens of connections to England. I found only a few early American Souths with no connection to my George SOUTH, Sr. (1639 Eng.-1670 VA). Here is about all I have on early American Souths:

Wife sole executor, wits: Christopher Garland & Wm Healy. Power & Authority of Trustee to Christopher GARLAND of the County of Glouchester same witnesses.

!I believe this is the George SOUTH that was in MD who settled on the banks of the Antietim Creek in 1650, and had my George and probably son John (in a KY court John's son states his grandfather was from MD and John himself once stated that his father was from MD but never mentions that he was from MD-John son of Geo. of MD married in Middlesex Co., VA, his children were all born in Middlesex Co., VA and stay and have their own children in Middlesex Co.) No one has ever found anything on George in MD other than him settling on the banks of the Anititum creek in 1650. Therefore, I think he went down to Northampton Co., VA and then went around to Westmoreland Co., VA.

!There is no documentation to prove that the children I have attributed to this George SOUTH are his children except for my George and probably John, but William who was in Westmoreland I believe is connected.

!Source of information:book,Sands of Time of the SOUTH family, Milford-Millford Family & Other Allied Families, by Chas. P.Milford, Gateway Press, Inc. Baltimore, 1976, SLC lib 929.273 So 87a.

!1999 Sources are John SOUTH e-mail: jmsouth@aisva.net and David SOUTH dsouth@epix.net for most of what I have on the SOUTH'S in MD.

As you can see I use you and David South for a reference, but I quit working on the Souths because your email addresses didn't work. I sure would appreciate any additional information you can add to mine.

Sincerely,
April Kyle BLADH
