Wesley P. South, b. 1846, was married to a lady named Helen. I do not have her maiden name. They had three children: Alice, b. 1872; William A., b. 04 Jul 1874;
d. 01 May 1951 in Franklin Co., TN; and Leonidas, b. 1878. All of these children were born in Tennessee.

James Means SOUTH & Nancy A. OSBORN, had two children that I don't see on your list and you have three that I don't have. This is what I show:

1. Sanford South, b. 1860
2. Charley O. South, b. 12 Jun 1869 in AL; d. 28 Apr 1944 in Marshall, AL.

More about Charley: Death Certificate Volume 20, Certificate 9936, roll 4.
Buried: Salem Cemetery, Geraldine, DeKalb Co., AL (a.k.a. Salem Methodist).

Marriage possibility: 10 Nov 1889 There is a Charley O. South, married to Emma A. Lowrey, DeKalb Co., AL, could be him. Emma's parents: Aaron Newton LOWERY & Frances M. A. CROFT. Emma had 7 other siblings.

Census information: DeKalb, AL, Precinct 27 (Johnson) South, C. O. Head of house, age 40, married 21 years born AL, farmer, general farm, owns his own farm: Emma, wife age 36, married 21 years. Carl, adult son, age 16, born AL, laborer home farm.

So you see the census information and marriage records coincide with each other.

This Emma and Charley had an infant who b. & d. 15 Aug 1903 and a son William Earl SOUTH, b. 12 Aug 1893 in Crossville, DeKalb Co., AL.

I will say that the settlement of estate of Aaron N Lowrey shows name of C.O. South.

Would you mind sharing with me where these girls names came from? Their birth years are right for this family, however. Do you have their spouses' first names?

James Means is the son of William SOUTH, b. 1802. He is the son of William SOUTH, b. 1760, my gx4 grandfather. I descend from Gabriel SOUTH, William's (b. 1802) brother.

Wyndy South
