I wonder if the Austin you mention is the same as the Col. Austin Murphy South who was active in the KKK after the Civil War. I have a difficult to read article from a Montgomery (?) newspaper about him. His KKK activities were in N.E. Alabama. My grandmother Dora Angeline South Dillard has a brother Elmer Houston South b. abt. 1895. Their parents were Elijah Franklin South and Mary Frances Hankins. They lived in Fayette Co. Alabama. I grew up in Marion Co. (Winfield) and remember visiting my South great aunts and uncles. In case you would like to have more of this line: Elijah's parents were Ezekiel Asbury South and Nancy Adeline Stewart. Ezekiel's parents were: Elijah South b. abt. 1793 and Rhoda Andrews b. abt. 1800.

If you find info about Co. Austin Murphy, I will appreciate hearing from you. Surely he must be related to "my" Austin somehow.

Dortha
