My Grandmother was Joan South born April 11, 1882 in Lafayette, Tennessee. Her parents were James M. South & Mary J. Morgan. They were married in Green Co, Kentucky on Jan 5, 1875. He was 32 years old, 2nd marriage, carpenter by trade, born in Grayson Co. Virgina (as was his father). His mother was also born in Virginia. Mary J. Morgan was also 32, 1st marriage, born in Tenn, her father born in NC. My grandmother had 2 older sisters :Nellie who married Andrew Ballard; they resided near Poteau, OK. She was supposedly 10 years older than my grandmother. ; Mollie who married Joe Weaver they lived in Fort Smith , Arkansas. Grandma also had a brother named Will. Don't know what ever happened to him. I don't know the name of James M. South's first wife or where she died. Mary J South died when my grandmother was very young. I came across a death record for a M J South in Washington County, Virginia in 1884. Don't know if it is my ggrandmother or not. John, if you want any more of my info, EMail address is raycharmiller@lvcm.com
