James A. South of Fayette Co., AL?
Posted by: Vana McClary Date: July 06, 2001 at 10:20:56

The search for my line of the South geneology is starting with information showing Fayette Co., AL and possibly Tuscaloosa. My gg grandfather's name is James A. South and his wife's name is Fannie (b. abt 1837). I do not know Fannie's maiden name. My grandfather, Murry Van South, had a photo of Fannie taken in 1930 at the age of 93 with Tuscaloosa, AL stamped in the corner. My great grandfather is Rheubin Franklin South (b. May 24, 1868) in Alabama. He was married to Sarah Ella McDonald also of Alabama. Their marriage was in Fayette Co. in 1891. Another child of James A. and Fannie was Virginia A. South, married to James Whitson. There were other children but I do not know the names. Any information to help me get started would be appreciated.
