Hi Jody. I am stalled in my search for my South lineage. One lead is upstate around Rhinebeck. The other is Scranton, PA. My grandmother Mary Clarice South was born in NY. She claimed NYC but also mentioned Rhinebeck. There is no birth record for her (1899) or her brother William (1898) in NYC. Her parents were Edward South of Scranton and Mary Cusack of New York (b. 1856). There was another son Edward Jr. Does any of this connect?
