I haven't been able to spot any definite links in the replies to my posting - perhaps some more info will help us sort out this great lot of Leeds SOWDENS!My ancestors include:
James SOWDEN married ?
Their children were all baptised in Farnley by Leeds:
Samuel (1763), John (1764), James (1765)and Hannah (1767)
I'm descended from James SOWDEN who married Sarah HARGRAVE in Leeds in 1790.Their children were all baptised in Farnley by Leeds:
James (1793), Mary (1795), Elizabeth (1797),Samuel (1799), Mathew (1802), Adam (1804), Joseph (1808), Sarah (1810) and Eleanor (1814).
I'm descended from Samuel SOWDEN who married Elizabeth HALEY (b.1798 in Bramley by Leeds) in Leeds in 1821.Their children were all baptised in Bramley:
Sarah (1822), Mary (1824), James (1826), Ann (1828), Joseph (1831) and Samuel (1834).
I'm descended from Joseph SOWDEN, an Iron Moulder who lived at 10 Kelvin Street, Bowling in 1881, and who married Martha TAYLOR (b.1833 in Clayton by Bradford) in Bradford in 1850.Their children included: James (1834, baptised in Bowling), Samuel (1856, Bradford), John (1858), Harriet (1864, Cleckheaton), Arthur (1866, Cleckheaton), Haley (1873, Bradford)and Martha H (1877, Bradford).
I'm descended from James SOWDEN who married Emma SIMPSON (b.1859, Bradford) in 1882 in New Zealand, before settling here in Australia.
I'd love to hear from anyone who may have a link.
Cheers, Leah
