You are right about these entanglements between families in the colonies.I suspect they existed in the mother country also. It was a bold and exciting thing for these people to come to America.The support that they had for this endeavor came from each other and the families they left behind.They supported each other, not because they were strangers doing the noble thing, but because they were all connected as neighbors and cousins.One family would be inspired and motivated by another.One can almost hear them saying, "If you'll go -- we'll go!"
One question about your post -- that concerns Mary, the wife of Moses Johnson, Sr.She was a Collier.You've stated that her mother was a Lucas.Others say that she was a Sowerby.What is your basis for the Lucas choice?What is the basis for Sowerby by others?
