HENRY LEE was born in Clinton County, O., June 8, l8l0. When quite young, moved with his parents to Wayne County, Ind. Here he was married to LUCINDA HOLMES. To them were born three children, MRS. SOWERS, of Leon, Iowa, being the only surviving one. The first wife only lived six years after marriage.
In l840 he was again united in marriage with CHRISTENA RIES, who still survives. To this union were born four sons and seven daughters. Of these seven, MRS. O.V.L. HARPER, MRS. MCJIMSEY and LEVI LEE, of Van Wert, Iowa, MRS. CARROLL, of California, WILLIAM and JOSEPH, of Nebraska, and MRS. KANE, of Lacelle, Iowa.
Brother LEE moved to Iowa and settled on a farm two miles southwest of Lacelle in Clarke County in l855, on which he lived until his death, September 9, l900. He was converted in early life and joined the New Life Church in which he lived until that organization ceased to exist. He joined the U.B. Church and continued a member of the same until death. The writer called on him during his sickness more than a year ago. He then expressed his strong faith in Christ and a good hope of Heaven.
Bro. LEE has been well known to the writer for more than thirty years. He was an upright, honest man; a kind husband and father. The neighbors showed their appreciation by the large attendance at the funeral held at his late residence. He was buried in the Lacelle Cemetery, there to rest till the trumpet of God shall sound.
