Lori, I was looking into the Civil War Pension records (which also contain Spanish American War pension records)and found the following: William P. Maclay E & A 43 US Infantry 1st Lt. US Infantry 155 Depot Brig. Capt. PA Inf NG (??) He applied for a pension: App #1,562,532 Cert#A-9-29-28 State: PA You would be surprised to learn that there was also another William P. Maclay who served in the Civil War (at least that is what I think from the dates). Could this be the above's father or uncle? William P. Maclay C 62 PA Infantry Applied for pension June 13, 1881 App #423,318 Cert #538,749 PA You can get the service records for both from NARA. They are on line and you can order the forms you need to order their records. You can also get the elder Maclay's pension records. They contain a lot of information. I have found that to get Spanish American War pension records are almost impossible. They were transferred to the Veterans Admin and it takes years to get anything from them. I am waiting 2 years on my grandfather's and 6 months on my grandsons' other great grandfather on his mother's side. (service records and pension records are two different records) Hope this helps. Please let me know if it does. Notify Administrator about this message?
