The best way out there is to take County Road 222 West from Cullman through Trimble and continue until you reach the General Store at Guthery Crossroads. Stop there and ask locals for directions. It is just south a little ways but not easy to find without directions. If you use Yahoo Maps, search for Guthery Crossroads, AL. The cemetery is just above Smith Lake across the cove from Speegles Landing Marina. You will have to zoom in to see CR 324. If you can't find it, I can send you copies of the maps.

Brushy Creek Cemetery
Located on County Road 324, a gravel road off of County Road 310 in between the Trimble and Guthery Crossroads communities in Western Cullman County. The cemetery sits on a slight ridge just above Lewis Smith Reservoir. Brushy Creek Church of Christ, the adjoining church, originally sat lower on the ridge. The site of the church was flooded when Smith Reservoir was formed and a new church was built on the hill adjacent to the cemetery.

The following is reprinted from Cullman County Churches and Cemeteries:
The Brushy Creek Cemetery began in 1855, when Daniel Speegle died. He was born in 1770 in North Carolina and the family legend has that he moved to this area in 1850 to help lay out Hancock County (which was renamed Winston County). Many of his friends and descendents, as well as much history lies buried in Brushy Creek Cemetery. Provided by Clyde Speegle, January 1980.
