Dan,
In your reply concerning Almon and Emeline Spellman, you refer to a Spelman Genealogy, and specify page 205.Could you tell me where to find this genealogy? My great-great-grandfather, William Spellman, was born around 1819 somewhere in Ohio, I think.I don't know who his parents were.I do know he married Celia McKown in 1842 in Knox County, Ohio, and wonder of wonders, I found the actual record of their marriage in the Knox County Court House Annex in Mount Vernon, Ohio.I know that by 1850 the family was living in northwestern Ohio, and by 1852, when my great-grandfather, William Allen Spellman, was born, they were near Canton, in Alliance Ohio.
My grandfather talked about a family Bible in Bowling Green that had the complete genealogy for the family--back to Europe, but I have not been able to find this document.
The Ohio Spellman names I have in my tree are:
William Spellman, b. abt 1819, presumably in Ohio
His children:Lucinda b. abt 1843, C.V. b. about 1848, Charles Gilbert, b. about 1849, Nathan E., b. about 1850, William Allen, b. 7/23/1852, W.H., b. about 1857.By 1860, the family had moved to Celia McKown's home in Jackson County, (West) Virginia, and all future Spellman descendants in my tree are in West Virginia.
Thanks for any advice or guidance you have.
