From the Lancaster Examiner of 25 Jan 1838

On Sat. morning, 6th inst., at the house of Henry Romich, in Elizabeth twp, Lancaster co., William Spera, aged 77 yrs, 10 mos, 11 days, soldier of the Rev War. At age of 16 he equipped himself, shouldered his musket, left father and mother, and joined Gen. Washington's army. He was buried at the Lutheran church near Hinkletown.
