Linda, Thank you for all this information you have posted! For years I have been looking for new information on my Rowland/Spicknall ancestors. How wonderful it is to find your posting about Leonard Spicknall witnessing the marriage of his daughter Elizabeth Spicknall to Samuel Rowland.Samuel and Elizabeth are my 5th great grandparents.
According to records passed down in our family from a Spicknall Family Bible, "Leonard Spicknall Sr. signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support March 12, 1778 before William Ireland in Calvert County MD.Ref. Box S Folder 29 1st column, Hall of Records Annapolis Md.He was a member of William Ireland's company in George Washington's Army."
I found a picture of Leonard's grave marker today on findagrave.Amazing!Any idea where Samuel and Elizabeth Rowland are buried?
My line:Samuel Rowland, Leonard Gordon Rowland, Martha Jane (Rowland) Smith, Leonard Gordon Smith, Grace Smith (Scanlon), Patricia (Scanlon) Geary, Carol (Geary) Hounsell, ME!- Ann [email protected]
