Daniel/Margaret SPIKE's possible Father

Daniel and his probable sister, Margaret (Spike) Slocum of NY & VT -- their father probably died when the kids were young, and their mother re-married (thereby acquiring another surname).

The Collections of the Connecticut Historical Society, Vol. X, "Rolls of Connecticut Men in the French and Indian War," Vol II, 1758-1762, by Albert C. Bates, pages 156-158 list the men in the Eighth Company, commanded by Capt. Archibald McNeal. On page 158 it lists...[ ]aniel Spike, Killed July 26 [1759]. It appears that this company was from New Haven, CT.

Was this Daniel SPIKE the father of Daniel and Margaret Spike? Was the family originally of New Haven, CT?
