While searching for my early Buchanans I found the following early Nova Scotia marriage bonds-
1779 Feb 18 John Buchanan (bach)+ Elizabeth SPIKE(spinster)
1780 Dec 9 Elizabeth SPIKE(Widow) + William Blenkinsop(bach) of Halifax
1787 May 23 Daniel SPIKE(bach) + Grace Cullimore(spins)
1795 Aug 31 Sarah SPIKE(spins) +Edward Duckett(bach)
1818 June 10 Henry SPIKE(bach) + Eunice Mitchen(spin)
1823 Dec 29 Ann SPIKE(spin) + Robert Kerr(bach) housecarpenter of Halifax

I have not been able to determine if Elizabeth SPIKE who married Blenkinsop almost 2 years after the Buchanan bond is the Widow of Buchanan or was his mother in law. I can find no record of Blenkinsop after 1780,

Hope this helps.
