After a recent trip to Yorkshire I have my ancestry traced back to

James Speight/ Spyke/Spite/Spight/Spike b c 1650 Yorkshire, <of Hilderthorpe> died 8 Feb 1724/25. Died James Spike, Brickmaker ye 8th Feb. 1724 (old Calendar) - Bridlington Parish Records m1: Elizabeth m2: Susana Pearson, 6 March 1697Bridlington Parish She died 6 March 1698/9 m3. Ann Vickerman 21 May 1699Bridlington Parish Ann died 1727 Bridlington.

His name is spelled variously in the different records but name soon evolved into the SPIKE spelling.

gen 2: Bryan Spight/Spyke/Spike b c 1682 Bapt. Brian ye son of James Spight December 3, 1682 St Mary’s (The Priory) of Bridlington died b1764 buried Nov 14, 1764 16 Oct 1765 (will signed) and 27 April 1769 (probataed) Bryan Spike married Elizabeth B_____ Dec 30 1708 All Saints Church, Hunmanby

Gen 8 : William Goldsmith “Goldie” SPIKE b: February 14, 1887;(Feb 11 )Ontario Canada about 15 mi form Kingston on fathers farm 300 acres. d: Feb. 12, 1948 Saline, MI ; m: July 15, 1908 Gladwin MI to Ethel May Schlichter (My great grandparents).
