Just to complicate the Jacob question- Maxine seems to be referring to the PA census for 1830 and 1840. But there are several other records to consider. I would like to know how many Jacobs there really are! A Jacob Spindler is listed in Filby and Meyer's Passenger and Immigration Lists Index- he came to Maryland in 1770. In Virkus' Abridged Genealogy is Henry Jacob Spindler b.1728 Germany who came to Manchester VA and was the father of George Frederick Spindler (1759-1843). There is Jacob Spindler (wife Mary) who christened a son Thomas in 1793 in St.Philip, Charleston, SC. There was a Jacob Spindler at communion, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, New Holland, Lancaster Co PA, 26 March 1826. This may the same Jacob who had a letter waiting at the European-German forwarding agency in Philadelphia on 28 Oct 1826. And there is Jacob Spindler born 1828 in Lancaster county to John Matthias Spindler and Elizabeth Zimmerman.
