I have been looking over this information and there are alot of errors in them. So gope to clear them up and maybe someone will have some additional information.

First of ALL, the maiden name of my husband's ggrandmother was LAY/ or LEY and NOT HOPPEL. She and Johannes came to the USA thru Castle Garden in 1864 with one son Karl (Charles) and twin infants Adolph/aka Otto and Eliz. She disappeared sometime before the 1870 census in NYC. There were 10 children. Besides the ones already mentioned there was: John Jr., Julia, Christian, Louis, my husband's grandfather Frederick (Fritz). I do not know the names for sure of the others two. They lived in Manhattan, NYC. After John Sr. died in 1880 most seemed to drift to Brooklyn and or other counties like the Bronx.

My husband's grandfather Fred and his wife Catherine had three children, I think. They were Julia, John Frederick (my husband's father) and Christopher who died as an infant in 1905. Catherine died in childbirth, a day or so after the birth of Christopher in Sept.1904.

Still looking for any living cousins and information on these and other related SPONHEIMER families !!

You can contacat me on or off list.

Thanks alot for any help in advance.
