Harriet Sponsler was my great grandfather's sister. She was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio. Her father was William Sponsler. She was mentioned in the settlement of his estate. William was most likely born in Maryland probably Frederick county) between 1780-1790. Her mother was Elizabeth Sowers. It appears William and Elizabeth were married in Fredierick Md in 1815. Harriet had the following siblings we know of Jacob, Andrew, Sarah , William, Henry, Michael, Margaret and perhaps a Marie. Jacob moved to Defiance Ohio. Andrew moved to Sullivan county. William, Henry and Michael moved to Martin County, IN. Richard moved to Greene county. A railroad stop in Greene county soutn of Linton named Sponsler was named after Harriet's brother William who owned property at that location when the RR stop was established. If more details are desired, please reply.
