I don't have the info that you are looking for BUT from the info that I have collected over the years the SPRIGGS that are located in the Johnson Co.,KY area seem to be all related one way or another. You will find my immediate SPRIGGS line in msgs 194 and 232 on this forum. A few of the SPRIGGS also lived in the area of Flat Gap,KY;Benjamin SPRIGGS family. Hiram SPRIGGS also shows up in a 1850 Wayne County, West VA census with some of the children, I assume he was visiting other SPRIGGS relatives at this point and time when this census was taken. I found the 1850 census online at www.GenWeb.com. By taking the older routes from the Johnson Co.,Ky area and going toward Huntington,W VA on todays maps it was possibly about 38-40 miles one way trip.
And back then there were quite a few boats on the Big Sandy
to travel on and barges from one side of the river to the other. If I come up with any info on your SPRIGGS I will let you know.
