I think my Spriggs may be a different off shoot but are proabably still related in some way to yours due to the locality. My Emma was born around 1880. In 1905, when she was married, her father ,John, is listed as being an Urban Council Forman. It is a possibilty he is the same John. I have only assumed the other witness signature on the marriage certificate, Jane Spriggs, is his wife. I could not count on him being your John just yet. I will have to do some more research into the Spriggs line. The problem I have found is that their can be a be a lot of people with the same surname and christian name around at, more or less, the same period and locality. For example their were two Thomas Goode's living in the same village and both of them had sons called Thomas. The only way I could seperate them is their spouses name.
