The Cutlers were from Boston Mass-
The names seem to have been well known there.
The Rev Dr. Timothy Cutler, who died in 1765, was President of Yale and Rector of Christ [the Old North] Church Boston.
Dr. William Cutler, the first of the name in Virginia came from Boston and settled in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. A memorial breast pin of him and his second wife, which descended to Mrs. John W. Galusha says, Dr. William Cutler died May 11, 1836 aged 70 years his funeral was held by the Rector of Bath Parish June 26, 1836 [Parish Registration]. His will dated Dec 9, 1833 and Recorded in Dinwiddie July 18, 1836 In his will he leaves Wm H Brodnax in trust for his daughter, Maria Love and her children due the death of his son-in-law Theodoric Love. He also mentions his children John H. Cutler, and Susan G. Mason.
