In Reply to: Wilson County Tenn., 1840 census by Dennis Doughty of 779

Here is another clue! Jacob S. Springs
was born about 1852 in Smith Co., Tn..
Jacob S. Springs Married Mary Bell Clark
in Crittenden Co., Ky. about 1877.
Brenda Joyce Jerome a Genealogist sent
some information that might help you!
Jacob S. Springs was Married twice, his
first wife was Lucy Ann Bennett, there
Marriage date Oct. 3, 1871. I wonder if
there is a Bennett family connection?
Smith County Tn. has many census years
online. I believe this is another branch
of our Spring family!
Don't feel bad Dennis, you are way ahead of me! First it took me years to get
the name of my GGgrandmother Martha
Spring. (Her name was on my Grgrandparents wedding lis., found for
me by a woman in Pulaski Co., IL.)
Our family history says she grew up in
Marion, now I wonder if it was Marion,
Ky.?? I know she was born in Il. as
her daughter Nancy Adaline Brock Knight
said. I also know some Spring family
members moved from Tn.>IL>Ky..
Martha is supposed to have been Choctaw, I knew that years before I knew Marthas
name, then
I find out there were/are several Spring family members who Married Choctaw and had Children who were part
Choctaw. There was more than one "Trail
of Tears", one went right through Critt.
Co., I can't help but wonder if Martha
Springs Father was in that group??

When my GGrandmother Nancy Adaline Brock
Knight died in IL., in 1915, her daughter Thelma Knight was sent to live
in Beltnap, IL, (Johnson Co.) She was
sent to be raised by the Grahams (They
died in the 1918 Flu epidemic)She was
then raised by the Wyatts, they did take her to Kentucky to visit relatives?
Her Paternal Knight line was from there,
but maybe she also had Spring family
Martha Spring married Henry Brock probably in the 1870s, my Mothers cousin
Jill (Lives in Vienna, IL.) & has looked and looked, but can't find a record of
Martha and Henry Brocks daughter Nancy
Addie was born in 1880 in Illinois.
