William Doughty and Betsy Ann (Springs) Doughty died 20 days apart from one another in 1861. Edmund Wiggs filed administration papers for the Doughty estate in Williamson County, Illinois the same day Betsy Ann Springs Doughty died. James Luckey and Hamelton Wiggs were also bondsmen for the estate. Edmund Wiggs born 1813 in South Carolina married Sarah J. Springs November 16th, 1842 in Williamson County, Il. John Springs, father of the bride, gave concent. Sarah Springs Wiggs was born 1824 in Tennessee and may have been a sister of Betsy.
Joseph B. (Bennett) Springs was appointed guardian of minor children when Betsy Ann Springs Doughty died.
The property was sold at public auction and Joseph B. Springs purchased the land. Farlin (?) Mathis and Jacob Grant were mentioned in estate papers.
J.B. (Bennett) Springs born 4 September 1814 and died Feb 24, 1894. buried in Shiloh Cem.
Caroline Springs born 4 )ctober 1822 died 9 July 1892. Shiloh Cem.
Elisha Springs born 1 Nov. 1810 died 27 August, 1893, Shiloh Cem.
(all three in same household next door to Moses Duty (another ancestor of mine) in 1870. July 4, 1895 in Williamson County, Illinois, Joseph B. Springs was declared insane. William W. Wiggs, a nephew of Joseph Springs the son of Edmun Wiggs, was appointed conservitor of property. J. Bennet Springs name is in the Doughty Family Bible and might of been a borther of Betsy Ann Springs Doughty.
