Greetings Dennis, My mother (who is currently 83 years old living in Harrisburg,IL.) told me she asked her Gt.Grandfather Marshall Elmore Springs b.1868 about the family history he looked at her and said ," we've been here a long time". ( Oh, how true but how I wished he had said more!!). I can't fault him too much since he was the baby of the family and his father Benjamin Springs b.ca.1803 was abt.66 years old when Marshall was born!! A couple of years ago when I was do some research at Maion,Il. some library people started to help me with my research (at least I thought they were helping) anyway they said Benjamin's father was Moses W. Springs b.1782 N.C. and his wife was probably Sarah b.1780 N.C. now they were looking at the 1850 Williamson Co. Census and saw Moses W.Springs age:74 N.C. with him was another Moses W. age:8 . then in a different place they saw S.H.I.V.Mc Springs age 20 farmer Tenn. Elizabeth 18 Tenn. and Sarah age:76 N.C. Now I have come to believe that Sarah isn't Moses's wife but his sister. With Abner,John,Benjamin,Elizabeth, and Pegga as fellow siblings.I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense . You mentioned the Gill family and I have a marriage for Moses W. Spring with Mary Jane Gill date:Nov.28,1847 in Williamson Co. Illinois.I believe this is my Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandfather.We southern Illinois Springs are related but HOW??? that is somewhat of a mystery. Dennis, didn't I read that Betsy Ann Springs was the daughter of Abner Springs? Do you have a death date for her? I don't have a death date for Benjamin, maybe a bunch of the older Springs moved with some of the Springs that moved to Texas and died on the way! ( that was a wild guess!).If I have confused you I'm sorry but as I have said before I will share all info. I find on our Springs! Sincerely, Gloria Baran
