I wish to make a correction to my earlier post. Most recently, I have traced my branch of the family to County Galway, circa 1801, with my great-great-great grandmother---Julia (Whelan) Spring. She married Stephen Spring, presumably also from Galway. Her parents where John and Mary Whelan.

My hypothesis is that my branch of the Spring family migrated to Galway by land from County Kerry, but that has neither been proved nor disproved. This hypothesis is based on the fact that members of my family have given names typically found among the Kerry branch of the Spring family: John, Robert, Arthur, William, Thomas, Francis, Mary, Margaret, Anne, Frances, Bridget.

If any Spring family member out there may have roots to Galway, I would be most interested in exchanging information.
