Hello S.IL.-Tenn-N.C. Springs cousins: This is from the "History of Mecklenburg Co.N.C." "Adam Alexander, one of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and still further known to history for his military services, was born in Penn. 9-28-1728,of,Scotch-Irish parents. He married Mary Shelby of Holston Co.Maryland". "About 1750,when many settlements of Scotch-Irish Presbyterians were being made in North and South Carolina, the Alexanders came to Mecklenburg Co.N.C." " Adam Alexander had six children, three sons, and three daughters-Evan Shelby,Isaac,Charles Taylor,SARAH and Mary." "Of the daughters, the eldest,Sarah, married Captain John Springs and has many descendants, chiefly through her daughter,Mary A.,who married her cousin, John Springs,a son of Captain Richard Springs, of York county,South Carolina. She has descendants also through her son, William Polk Springs, who married another cousin, Margaret Springs". Sincerely, Gloria Baran
