Thomas, John and Hugh Sproat came from Kirkculbright, Scotland. They may possibly be my ancestors. The brothers(?) three sailed from Kirkculbright in 1774 on "The Adventure" of Liverpool and arrived in NY? in the spring of 1774. I have found a John and Hugh Sproat in the 1790 census and 1800 census in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in Little Brittian Township, but have been unsuccessful in proving and documenting any connections. My Grandfather told me that one of his ancestors returned to Ireland or Scotland. Any information on the Lancaster PA Sproats or Kirkculbright Sproats would be appreciated.
