Christine, I happened to notice that Cochran Sproat was listed in the 1850 Census in Coshocton Co., OH, Newcastle Twp., p. 9. I haven't looked up the images, but imagine that you have. The reason I was interested is that there was a "Lecta" [Electra?] Sproat mentioned in the will of Joseph Severns who died in Coshocton Co., OH, Newcastle Twp. 1 Apr 1857. His assets were divided among his children and grandchildren, but an exception was made for "Lecta" Sproat, who was to receive $30. No explanation is given or any indication of a possible relationship. When the distributions were recorded in 1862, William and "Electra" Foster were shown receiving a distribution. A fellow Severns researcher and I, also a Severns researcher, have puzzled over the relationship of Electra Sproat to Joseph Severns. I believe she is shown living in the household of the aged Joseph Severns in the 1850 census, and she is a young woman, but I don't have that information at hand. I am wondering whether Electra is a sister or other close relative to Cochran Sproat who is living as a housekeeper or nurse for Joseph Severns. Or she may possibly be a granddaughter of Joseph Severns who married a Sproat husband who died quite young and then Electra moved in with Joseph. Also I noticed that there is an Amasa Sproat, an older man than Cochrane, living in the nearby county of Ross, the town of Chillicothe. Wonder if he is related to Cochrane. Do you have any thoughts on these things? Patsy Skeels
