I have information taken from a confederate pension application on the following:

J. A. Spruill b. approx. 1843 in Ponder Springs GA. He came to texas in about 1849. His wife's name starts with the initials M.B. (she was b. 1859 in Alabama) and they were married on March 15th 1890 in Hunt Co. Texas.

J. A. Spruill served in Co. H 27th (Whitfield's) Texas Cavalry, C.S. A. enlisted March 10, 1862.

J. A Spruill died on April 6, 1924 in Anderson Co. TX. I believe he is buried in Grapeland Texas. Witnesses on the application are C.E. Spruill and L.D. Spruill.

In my records I have William H. Spruill who was born 1845 in Alabama and died in Texas 1912 and was buried at Grapeland. His wife was Mary McNeil. The 1880 census for Cherokee County TX shows that William's father was born in North Carolina.

Are William H. and J.A. brothers? Who was their father? Benjamin G. Spruill or Zebulon Anderson Spruill (both were born in NC and died in Texas).

Any help is greatly appreciated!
