The Spurgeon farm is in Davidson Co NC in the Abbotts Creek Road area. Parts of it are still populated by Spurgin descendants. If visiting in the area, Betty Essick, 3026 Abbotts Creek Church Rd, Kernersville NC 27284, can tell you exactly where Col. William lived, his brother Samuel lived, the son grandson John lived (1845 house), etc. I don't have it all figured out in my head yet, although I have been there. Be sure to stop at the Abbotts Creek Cemetery - the old part. The tombstones are absolutely unique. They were carved with holes in them as a part of the design.
