I just don't know---Margaret Spurgeon b. abt. 1839 in Russell Co. Va to Joseph & Margaret Cumbo(w) Spurgeon was still with them on the 1860 Wise Co. VA census, but the next in 1870 she is gone and I don't know where--there is no marriage record for her ( and they recorded them after 1850) and we can't find any of her family after the 1870 census so far. Part of the problem I believe is the Cumbo ancestery as it is mixed blood, so many of the Cumbo were not married (including her aunt Mary (Polly) Cumbo) as it was illegal to marry, and Wise Co. is the heart of Melungeon country, supposedly they avoided being tracted--dropping the w off the end of the name, changing place of birth to match wherever they were living etc

The only thing I have to go on is her age and name,( and the lack of others) it would help if we knew the relationship between her and William Vincent. Where did your Margaret go after the 1870 census? That might help---
