John Spurgeon, Jr. and Cordelia C. Hodges
Posted by: Pamela Caldwell (ID *****8504) Date: July 05, 2004 at 18:27:16

Looking for parents of John Spurgeon, Jr. who married Cordelia C. Hodges. John was born 1839 in Alabama and died August 29, 1862 at the 2nd Battle of Manassas, Virginia. John enlisted in the Confederacy in Ripley, Mississippi.

Two known children: Joseph Henry and James. Both Joseph and James went to Texas in 1880.

This John Spurgeon is descended from John Spurgeon born 1736 and who lived in the state of South Carolina in 1767 and was a documented loyalist during the Revolutionary War.

Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Pam Caldwell
