Any DNA participation????

Is there anyone participating in any of the DNA projects? I saw that there was a Cumberland project with the purpose of connecting the families including the surname Spurgeon, Webb, and Odell. There appears to be several marriages between these families including intermarriage with the Large family. I would like to be in contact with anyone who is participating so that we can compare notes and research. I have ordered a kit and my brother is going to donate his DNA. I am hoping that that will enable us to connect further back to the Spurgeon family, but I am becoming more and more convinced that my ancestress was never married. I can find no one who could have been the father of my James Taylor Spurgeon who was born in Cocke Co., TN in 1855 to Margaret Spurgeon. He apparently had two brothers, John and Thomas. At least Thomas went to Missouri, altho famiy tradition says that both brothers went to Missouri. I would love to connect with someone descended from John and Thomas' lines.

Thank you

Mona Spurgeon Herrin
