I am doing a survey of all the Spurgeon families around Cocke Co., TN that could possibly connect to my Margaret Spurgeon, born c 1840, TN, who was the mother of James Taylor Spurgeon, born 1855 in TN.
I have a question about Drury Spurgeon-I am not sure if his name is William Drury or Drury M. but the census has his name as Drury M.
Why does Spurgeon researchers have him born in NC when the census in both 1850 and 1860 have him born in Missouri? What is the proof of his birth?
Just curious about this. I don't see any connection between my Spurgeons and these, but I think that there has to be some relationship between the Spurgeon in Sevier, Cocke, and perhaps other close counties in East TN.
