George Washington Spurgeon

Hello to all Spurgeon relatives. I am a decendant of GW Spurgeon, b abt 1835 in Ohio. His daughter, Orrel Ada Spurgeon, was my grandmother's mother. I cannot find any other information about GW Spurgeon (father, mother, siblings, birth place, etc.). I know he was in the Kansas State Senate in 1877 and died it seems in 1879 because he is not in the 1880 census. He married Melissa Harlo Simons, b Nov 1839 in NH, and she and her children lived for many years in Lincoln Township, Neosho County, Kansas (Census 1875, 1880, 1900, 1910).

Can anyone help me track his ancestors? My cousin W. Keith Young mentions the Spurgeon Quarterly as a reference in his genealogy papers of the Young Family (our Grandmother Flora Etta Young). Is there anywhere I can access the Quarterly?

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day
Dennis (Stan) Stratton
