Rev. John Grove Spurgeon (1746-1829)

The Rev John Grove Spurgeon was born in 1746 and obtained a BA (Hons) from Cambridge University in 1769.
He was Rector of Clopton and Oulton, Suffolk.
He was married to Anne Farrer and they had a daughter Frances Elizabeth Spurgeon (1784-1879), who married Edward Acton Acton (1767-1822), the parents of Lt Col. Edward Farrer Acton (1805-1890).
The Rev John Grove Spurgeon was an amateur etcher and a sketch he drew of his daughter Frances Elizabeth Spurgeon (‘Mrs Acton’) can be seen at:
