Sorry - the elder Mattie was Martha, not Matilda. Can you document the marriage of William Spurlock and Martha. I doubt they were married. In 1900 Martha BAKER was living wth her Parents at Sparger, Texas (Ty;er Co.). She was 27, born May 1883. Father was Joseph Baker and his second wife Farer Lee Baker, only 7 years older than the oldest child 19 and Martha 17. Living with them was Albert, grandsonborn 1899. Don't think it gave his surname.
In 1920 William W. Spurlock. age 39, lived in Dallas with wife Bonnie Jean 37 and children William 15 and Jean 13.
George Washington Spurlock was of a Brittain Spurlock who went to the gold rush in 1849 and disappeared. His family was one of two, the other being William Woodruff Spurlock, who came to Tyler County from Georgia just before the Civil War.
