Mr. Crutcher (and any survivors of Joe L. Spurrier);
Although I am not a descendant I am a full-time law enforcement officer and part-time historian researching Joe Spurrier's murder.
I have recently noticed that although the U.S. Marshals Service acknowledges his death as a Line of Duty incident, he is not memorialized at the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial (NLEOM).This is despite the fact that the other two officers that were killed in the same incident have received this recognition.
Any help you (or Joe Spurrier's descendants) could offer would be appreciated, especially the author and publisher information of the book you mentioned or copies of any photos the book might contain.I would like to gather the documentation necessary to submit this honorable man for inclusion at the NLEOM as he deserves.
Thank you in advance,
WM
