Here is all I have on my Sroufe line. I hope you can help..

Anna Luella Sroufe
b:Aug 4, 1870 (don't know where)
d:Feb 3, 1916 - Scranton, Greene, Iowa
m:March 8, 1885 - Scranton, Green, Iowa
John Eliphalet Ellsworth
son of William and Margaret (Essesx - sister of Jesse B.)
b:December 7, 1960 - Victoria, Knox, Illinois
d:December 16, 1958 - Scranton, Green, Iowa
buried at Scranton Cemetery, Iowa

they had the following children in order:

Blanche Viola
Alice Mabel
Charly Everett
Margaret Pearl
Martha Janet
Johnnie Lee
Lillian Mae

Margaret Pearl was my husband's grandmother. John lived with here until he died. John Eliphalet came to Iowa with his parents in 1883 where his father died and his mother remarried Martin Fitch. I need to order the Scranton Cemetery Records to determine if any others in this family are buried there. Can't find it online....

John lived with his family in Oklahoma during the early 1900's then returned to Iowa where he remained. They were very poor and he never remarried after his wife died. No one spoke of her, there are no stories passed down about her that I've come across. She and her parents remain a mystery. I have a few photos of her, and some that could be her taken in Illinois when she was younger, leading me to believe she was originally from Illinois, but there is not evidence.

Thanks, LISA
