Dear Les - what a great surprise to hear from you so soon!!!! Thanks

Re: Dutch Land Grant - in August 1948, great uncle J.H. "Harry" Sroufe wrote:

"The Sroufe family started on a Dutch Land Grant in New York State in 1652. John Jacob Sroufe being the recipient from the Dutch government of this land. Later two Sroufe brothers left New York State in the company with Isaac Zane and others and founded the towns of Zanesville, Ohio, the family spreading out in several small towns, Xenia, Yellow Springs, and Siota. One of these brothers continued on in Ohio marrying a French and Indian girl. The other brother crossed the Ohio river and settled in Harding Kentucky."

We just can't seem to find any ancestors for George Washington Sroufe other than this reference in correspondence. Would like to know more - and willing to share what we do know.

Thanks again, Liz
