Phyllis Staddon b. 1901 Milford, Eng

After my great grandmother Phyllis Augusta Staddon died (1901- 1983), many of her
posessions were passed down, including her Mormon Book of Remembrence. Inside she
had written down a lot of family information and glued in pictures. If the info. below
sounds familiar to anyone you can e mail me and we can compare info. (below is only
some of what I have)
Her parents were:
James Rawlinson Staddon b. 1864 in Bovey Tracy, England d.1937 and his second wife
Mary Augusta Hill b.1874 in Surrey, Eng d. 1942
James "Jack" had served in the British army in India and his diary is in the royal mueseum.
His parents were Richard Staddon and Betsy Elizabeth. Jack's first wife was Sarah
Elizabeth Andrews b. 1870 Sleaford, Lincoln, Eng d. 1899 Surrey Eng. Sarah's parents
were James (or William) Andrews and Harriet Pask. Jack & Sarah had six kids:
(all were born in Surrey)
1. Charles Lawrence b. 1888 m. Minnie Tucker (kids: May and Alexander)
2. Frederick Claud b. 1889 m. Grace Southgate
3. Florence Mary b. 1891 m. Arthur Bolton
4. Alma May b. 1893 m. Charles Henry Belton
5. Cecil James b. 1895
6. Dorthy Winifred b. 1897 m. Ted Cooley (kids: Winifred “Winny”, and Rose)
Sarah Andrews Staddon's cause of death (as listed on her death certificate) was puerperal
peritonitis which lasted six days

A year after Sarah died, Jack married Mary Augusta Hill in St. Mark's Church in Surrey
Eng. they had four children
1. Phyllis Augusta b. Jul 22 1901 in Milford, eng. When Phyllis was 17 she traveled from
England to Canada as an indentured servant for the Timmons family who owned silver
mines in Canada. By the time she was 23 she left Ontario and moved to Tyrringham, MA
to marry Fred Ashton on Aug. 15, 1924. They had two sons Frederick Rawlinson and
Ronald Ashton
2. Albert Reginald b. 1902 in Surrey, Eng m. Gladys Gibson (had 3 sons James, David ,
George)
3. Lily Louise b. 1904 in Milford, Eng m. John Gill ( had one daughter, Geraldine)
4. Noel Simeon Rawlinson b. Dec 29 1911 d. Feb 13 1913

After Jack Retired he and Mary moved to Thistletown, Ontario, Canada where they lived
in a house on about an acre of land. It also had a large garden and they kept chickens.
