Mrs. Beverly Little, Houston, TX, wrote in the 1960s:
"There were two brothers: Daniel W. Stagner and John Marion Stagner. The father and uncle of these two brothers came over from Germany. One brother settled in another part of the US; the other brother came south and eventually bought a plantation in Pike Co., AL. Daniel fought for the South and John Marion fought for the North. Daniel Stagner married Nancy Parish prob in AL in 1865. He was still in AL in 1872; he died 7 Aug 1877 in Wood Co., TX. Three children are listed. His brother, John Marion Stagner was born 25 Sep 1843 in Pike Co., AL. He married Malinda Ann Rouse, 1 Jan 1867 in Pike Co., AL." 10 children are listed.
Sheila Huie Bahner wrote in 1994: "Peter Stagner and Elizabeth were living in Pike Co., AL in 1850" Sheila wrote again in 1995: "...a kind woman in Pike Co., AL [said] according to her records these families did migrate from South Carolina..."

Unfortunately, nothing more.....
